Joshua Campbell, Chair for the Council Advisory Panel of the Association of the Hydro-Meteorological Industry (HMEI)

LOGAN, UTAH – Joshua Campbell, a Vice President at Campbell Scientific, has been confirmed as the new Chair of the Association of the Hydro-Meteorological Industry (HMEI), prior to the 19th World Meteorological Congress.

After serving in various positions on the HMEI Council, Joshua will now coordinate with World Meteorological Organization (WMO) leadership, as well as the heads of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHS) around the world. As Chair, he will work to align stakeholders throughout the industry in a collaborative effort to provide an aligned voice to the global hydrometeorological community.

Joshua’s new objectives include increasing collaborative advisements with institutions such as the WMO and associated funding agencies, organizing the HMEI Council to better align with the new WMO structure, and developing strong ties among the WMO committees and task groups. He will also be involved in growing membership numbers and working to ensure that practical efforts such as Sustainable Development, Proper Tendering Procedures, Systematic Observations Financing Facility (SOFF), Global Basic Observing Network (GBON), Early Warnings for All (EW4A), Global Greenhouse Gas Monitoring (GHG), WMO Information Systems (WIS) 2.0, and Unified Data Policy are implemented within the hydrometeorological community.

Campbell Scientific is supportive of this work, as it aligns with our efforts in fulfilling our mission to benefit humankind. As a collaborative industry, we often find ourselves working with public institutions and funding agencies to provide sustainable observation networks that produce insights and intelligence for the benefit of humanity.
