I have a setup where because of multiple sensors and excitation current pulses, power needs require a large amount of Ah. I also want to ensure a consistent supply of power through overcast weather.
In this setup, I currently have a charge controller serves as the hub where I have wires from solar panel, load (data logger) and the battery connecting to different terminal on this charge controller.
I am just wondering if I could bypass this battery-charge controller-datalogger (CR6) connection to battery-datalogger (to CR6 directly)?
Or will there be a risk of excessive draw from the battery?
As in almost all photolvaitic regulators, there is the function that protects the battery when it falls below a certain threshold value, for example 11.8. When this situation occurs, the pair of "load" terminals is disconnected, eliminating the power supply (often only the negative side). Only when the battery returns high above the threshold, for example 12.6, will the load be powered again.
You have to decide whether to risk losing data or controlling the system, when the logger is turned off or risk discharging the battery too much and ruining it or due to a wrong energy balance (the logger consumes everything that the photovoltaic produces, without setting aside nothing to recharge the battery) fail to recharge the battery well.

Just run from the load terminals of your charge controller to the Bat inputs on the CR6. Don't connect anything to the charge input on the CR6.
